This once a year event is held in the court area next to Souplantation. It's set up Farmers Market style with lots of food booths from all the restaurants on South Lake. Some hand out samples and others sell their food but at a discounted rate. It's a nice and inexpensive way to spend the day.
One of the best deals of the event was the San Sai booth they had everything for sale for $1.00 so for $3.00 you could get a whole combo. 4 pieces of spicy tuna or California rolls for $1.00, Sumi salad a very generous portion for $1.00 & Teriyaki chicken skewers for $1.00. Fish Dish handed out free samples of two types of Salmon samples and their hearty clam chowder. Fresh and easy booth was handing out free pumpkin cookies baked fresh in their store daily. The South Lake Business Association was giving out free reusable shopping bags, Diabolo French sodas were giving out soda cans and samples of all their flavors including the energy drinks, Corner bakery was selling their baked goodies at a discounted rate & at the children's corner kids were decorating mini pumpkins. Healthy kids juices and chocolate milks were being sold, and kids could get an i.d card with their fingerprints and all of their information in case ever needed in an emergency for free.
There were live food demos every hour from 11-2 and a great bands playing the whole time and KCRW D.J. Raul Campos spinning between sets. The crowd was feeling the tunes I have never been to a food event before where so many of the event goers were more engaged with the bands than the food, they were truly entertaining!
It's a perfect way to get to know the restaurants in your neighborhood and your neighbors as well.
