L.A. Zoo Lights

Updated: Sep 24, 2020

The LA Zoo got a head start on the holiday festivities Friday evening with a tree lighting ceremony emcee'd by Julie Chang of Fox 11 News, along with Carolyn Hennesy (True Blood and Cougar Town and one of the LA Zoo's biggest advocates), Chris Sullivan (Toby on NBC's "This is Us") , and Justin Turner of The LA Dodgers. Together they counted down and flipped the switch that illuminated the tree and entry plaza, kicking off the 2018 season of LA Zoo Lights. Bubbles, snow and music filled the air as the first guests of the season cheered and made their way to the main grounds where they were dazzled with old favorites and stunning new visuals.

This year you can delight in a disco ball forest, whimsical 3-D animations, a glowing “Northern Lights” featuring animal constellations that come to life, and so much more. For the first time ever, the L.A. Zoo Lights experience includes picturesque Elephant Circle, which has been transformed into a kaleidoscopic savanna where glowing, large-scale animals roam. The popular Twinkle Tunnel has doubled in size this year and features cascading swirls of light and a spectacular finale.

Other favorites like the animated elephant herd, and the dramatic water show are all re-imagined, with stunning new visuals and music.

This brilliant display of lights and animation, will shine bright nightly for seven dazzling weeks through Jan. 6, 2019. For more info visit www.lazoolights.org
