If you're looking for a fun little day trip that doesn't break the bank I highly recommend checking out the Desert X exhibitions in the Coachella Valley.
I visited one of the 17 exhibitions listed on the app on my roadtrip from LA to Arizona and it was a great place to stretch my legs out for a bit and also to break up the trip so it wouldn't feel so long.
The Exhibit is visible from the freeway. Driving by it may look like a pile up of containers, but look closer and you'll see a "Sleeping Figure".
It's a short walk from the parking lot to the Art and it's a great time to visit. On your walk you'll see snow capped mountains, wind mills and several wild flowers. Don't sleep on this opportunity. The exhibit is only runs March 4 - May 7, 2023.
