The Maestro Uribe Flight - Machetazo Cupreata, Mayalen Guerrero, Mayalen Borrega ; here we showcase 3 different expressions all made by the hand of maestro mezcalero Jose Morales Uribe. These include the batch strength Mayalen cupreata expression as well as the cupreata based lamb pechuga he makes. This is an advanced flight showcasing how a single agave species can be used to showcase various flavor profiles. 108 proof isn’t for beginners!

MEZCAL MAYALEN & MACHETAZO
The name Mayalen is a variation of the Nahuatl word, Mayahuel, the goddess associated with the maguey plant in the Aztec culture. Mayahuel is also associated with fertility and nourishment.
Legend has it, a mighty warrior named Machetazo, who was worthy of her status, sought Mayahuel out. Mayahuel soon fell in love with him, as he was known for his great strength and powerful swing of the machete (a machetazo).
The name Machetazo symbolizes a part of the complex and labor intensive process behind the mezcal production. With a swing of the machete or machetazo, mezcal masters mark the beginning of the adventure behind the making of this mystical spirit.
The Mayalen series is focused on 100% handcrafted wild agave cupreata and the Machetazo series is focused on the expression of place, or terroir, through mezcal.
